Sticks And Stones May Break Your Bones, But Beauty Needn't Suffer

Collaborative Post

Injuries are never good for self-confidence. The accident itself can leave you feeling nervous. And, the injury you received could render you unable to leave the house for worries about appearance. It’s a negative experience all around, and one you’re sure to suffer for.

Of course, some injuries are worse for this than others. Though bruising can damage confidence, there are ingenious ways to cover the issue. A broken bone, however, is a little harder to smooth over. You certainly can’t hide that plaster cast under layers of clothing. Instead, it will be loud and proud for everyone to see. And, there’s nothing you can do about that for the duration of which you have to wear it.

If that idea makes you weak at the knees, you wouldn’t be alone. We spend a long time perfecting our beauty regimes, and it’s never pleasant to think they might be affected by health issues. The good news is, there are a few ways to reduce the damage that broken bone can cause to your appearance. And, we’re going to look at some of them here.

Draw the eye elsewhere

It doesn’t take a genius to work out that the best option here is to draw the eye elsewhere. If your plaster cast is causing you to feel self-conscious, give people something else to look at. Focus on bright lipstick or eyeshadow. Buy new outfits which detract from the problem area. We know that extra expense like this is the last thing you need after medical bills, but it’s a step well worth taking. If it helps you justify the cost, speak to a slip and fall lawyer about your accident, and use any compensation you gain for this purpose.  It may seem like a frivolous expense, but it’s a step worth taking if it makes you feel more confident while wearing your cast.

Color coordinate your cast

If you feel as though you can’t detract attention, it’s time to go loud and proud with your cast.  An over the elbow option, for instance, will be pretty hard to get past. Instead, make the most of things by choosing a fun color for your cast. Most hospitals offer various options here, and it pays to make the most of them. The best bet is to opt for a plaster which suits your general color scheme. Then, you can consider which outfits would most compliment the cast, and use it as an accessory of sorts. Just like that, you can turn a hindrance into a funky fashion addition.

Carry on like normal

The above pointers aside, you may find that it helps to carry on like usual. After all, your beauty regime is a carefully curated thing. There’s no need to change that because you’re wearing a cast. In fact, doing so could damage your confidence further. Instead, stick with what you know works. That way, you can at least be sure that you look your best aside from that bulky plaster cast.
